When it was built in 1876, the Victorian home at 519 West Sixth Street was one of the showiest homes in the city. Built by JC Spencer as a wedding present for his son William, the house has continually been occupied by residents & guests. The original woodwork is one of the most eye-catching features of the interior, along w/the 12- foot ceilings, antique outfitting, beautiful FPs & interior folding shutters. Well over 6,000 sq. ft. featuring many guest rms, parlor, library, dining & more. The large oak staircase greets you upon entrance. All of the wood throughout the house is local from the Spencer family land in Corry Pa. It was hand carved on the site. The Parlor of the home has windows facing north, west and south. The window trim coordinates w/the fireplace mantle. The Library of the home was originally referred to as "The Acorn Room" by JC Spencer.
